In this addition to the calendars, I had to use 50% of my own artwork. So, I made this month after Brad Paisley, a famous Country Music artist who is also a monster songwriter. So, first I took an outline of one of his favorite guitars, the telecaster. I used the pencil tool to draw the actual guitar itself. Also I used the eyedropper tool and the color replacement tool to get the exact colors from his guitar. Then I used the brush tool to color in certain smaller parts of the guitar such as the tuning pegs. This guitar was a lot of fun and I hope to use what I learned on this project in the future.
In this month, we had to create 50% of our artwork. So I decided to theme this month after the band Rush. So, using the brush tool I outlined the Rush logo. Then I used the Magic Wand Tool to quickly fill in a majority of the picture. Then I took the brush tool to fill in any small spaces that I had missed when using the Magic Wand Tool. Finally, I added a white outline to the logo so it popped a little better on the background. This was one of my favorite months to create and I hope to apply the skills I learned here to the future.
This is my soul collage. The magazines that I brought were all guitar magazines because those re the only type of magazines I own. So, I used the detail and the products within the magazine to create this. I loved the look of the brick pattern so I used that as my base. Then I saw the colors of the pedals had create a nice urban tone. Then, I added the hex pattern behind them while adding the “83 experiment” tag from, a tube in an amp. Then I saw the Blues font and I topped off the project with that. I believe this truly represents me and my love for music.
To wrap up my calendar, I created a fitting cover page and thumbnail page. I used Photoshop to add all of the musical symbols of the cover page. I then added a blue background to compliment the white and black accents. I then used the Snip it Tool to add all the thumbnails. I took the tops of each calendar and put them in chronological order. To wrap it all up, I put a matching blue cover and back background. This I believe really finished off the calendar.
Cook Book
In this project I was assigned the country of Taiwan. I noticed that the flag of Taiwan had a sun in the middle. So, using Photoshop I edited the food into the sun, making it resemble a plate. I used the magic wand and eraser tool to get rid of unwanted surroundings/backgrounds. I then added a filter that made the food look drawn in. Then I took the image and put it into Publisher and added text boxes talking about the Ingredients, Directions, and the Fun facts. It took some time, but I as able to fit all of the information on the page using the "Spill Over" tool while typing in a text box and continuing the work into another text box. I did this process twice due to me having to make two pages in the cookbook. I really did enjoy this project because the whole class made a joint effort to put together the cook book. The cookbook looks great and it would never have been possible if it weren't for the class putting in all of their effort.
Can Label
For this project, I was tasked with designing and creating a can label. I choose to put grass in a can. I Thinking of grass, I knew that a farm would be a great central background. I then added a filter to the the farm. Then, in Publisher, I added the "Cut Grass in a Can" and the "Just Add Water!" text in the center. Throughout the label, I kept thee organic color scheme of green ad white throughout all the text. I then added the "Freshly Cut in Minnesota, U.S.A!" because when I see something made in America, I'll buy it. I then added an easy four step "Directions" section for those who need to know how to cook and make grass. I also edited in the American flag and the Net Weight in the lower corner. Finally, I added the Nutrition Facts on the very left along with a bar code, recycle symbol, and a Dairy Containment Symbol to top it off. I really enjoyed this creative take on a can label and I hope to further this creativity to other projects.
